The Misuse of the Shariah Compliant Label
The upcoming INCEIF Discourse Series, the 12th edition, looks into the misuse of the Shariah compliant label among the investing community, particularly by companies offering Shariah-compliant investment tools. In our pursue to educate the public in general and investors in particular, we hope that the information and discussion shared during the session would prepare them to be vigilant against potential scams; business-wise or compliance-wise. The session will address the exploitation and misappropriation of Shariah-compliant labelling, and explore the blurred lines between genuine adherence to Islamic finance principles and instances where the label may be wielded for unintended purposes
