Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar is currently the Chairman of Bursa Malaysia Berhad. He is regarded as one of the most accomplished corporate leaders in Malaysia having successfully led as CEO three major organisations in infrastructure development (UEM Group 2001 - 2004), telecommunications (Telekom Malaysia 2004 - 2008) and financial services (Maybank 2008 - 2013). He served as Group Chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), Malaysia's largest fund management company, from August 2016 to June 2018 following completion of his term as a Senator and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of Economic Planning from June 2013 to June 2016.
Prior to his cabinet appointment, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid was the President and CEO of Maybank, Malaysia’s largest public listed company and one of the leading banking groups in Southeast Asia, from May 2008. He was credited with transforming Maybank into a regional banking group and a global leader in Islamic finance. He also currently serves as the Chairman of WWF-Malaysia and MySDG Foundation, Professor of Practice at INCEIF (the Global University for Islamic Finance), as the Sultan bin Abdulaziz Visiting Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, UK, Chairman of the International Advisory Council of the Economic Club Kuala Lumpur and Advisory Council member of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong & Macau).
Tan Sri Abdul Wahid is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad was appointed as Independent Director of CIMB on 20 July 2015, and as Chairman on 20 October 2018. He was the President of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) from August 2011 to July 2013. In September 2013, he was elected to the Council of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom and completed the maximum 9 years tenure in November 2022, after being re-elected in September 2016 and November 2019.
On 1 May 2021, he was appointed a member of the Financial Reporting Foundation and Chairman of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB). On 27 March 2023, he was appointed as director of FIDE FORUM.
He brings with him vast experience in the areas of leadership, management, operations, finance and accounting, which spans over 40 years, having started his career as a Trainee Accountant with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) in 1979 and moving on to hold various positions in the Finance Division.
Dr. Zulkarnain is a Professor of Accounting at INCEIF University. He specializes in accounting, financial reporting, auditing, corporate governance, and ESG. Currently, he serves as the Associate Dean and a Senate Member of INCEIF University. He earned his Bachelor of Accounting and Master of Science in Accounting from Universiti Putra Malaysia and obtained his Ph.D. from Cardiff University, United Kingdom. Dr. Zulkarnain is a Chartered Accountant registered with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He is also a Certified Training Professional accredited by the Finance Accreditation Agency, a Certified Professional Trainer by the Malaysian Institute of Management, and a Certified Trainer by HRDF.
Dr. Zulkarnain was a Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He served as a Visiting Scholar at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University (funded by Erasmus+, EU) and the Asian Accounting Finance & Business Research Unit, Cardiff University (funded by UPM). With extensive experience in financial advisory and financial education, he has been involved in various significant projects, including Shariah assurance services (Audit and Review) for Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs), assessment of governance practices of an international IFI, zakat advisory for a Malaysian conglomerate with local and international operations, and training for over 350 board members of Malaysian Islamic banks and their affiliates (organized by the Bank Negara Malaysia and ISRA). Dr. Zulkarnain has also provided training to the board of directors of international Islamic banks under the MTCP program by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is engaged with numerous professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Islamic Professionals (CIIF), Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM), Brunei Institute of Leadership & Islamic Finance (BILIF), and ISRA Consulting Sdn. Bhd. (ICSB).
