Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maya Puspa Rahman
A Brief Introduction
Dr Maya Puspa has over a decade of experience teaching economics and finance in esteemed higher learning institutions in Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. With a background in fund management, investment and takaful, she held a pivotal role as Deputy Manager, Investment Division in a prominent Malaysian takaful firm. After completing her PhD in Islamic Banking and Finance in 2015, she transitioned into the academia and contributed significantly to the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences at the International Islamic University Malaysia until 2021. Prior to her current role in INCEIF University, she was affiliated with the College of Economics and Management, Al Qasimia University, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
She has been actively involved in research collaborations with national and international agencies including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Asian Institute of Finance (AIF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK), Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and has published in several areas namely on digitalisation, green energy, crowdfunding, sukuk, bonds, complementary currencies and structured products.
Dr Maya Puspa actively conducts training and seminars for local and foreign universities including institutions such as the Istanbul School of Central Banking, SAHARA Group Training and Consultancy Istanbul, IIUM Centre for Continuing Education and the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A strong advocate for economic and financial education among youth, she emphasizes practical elements when teaching courses about money and banking, Islamic banking and finance as well as financial economics, for effective learning.
