A Brief Introduction
Dr. Hengchao Zhang earned his Ph.D. in Islamic Banking and Finance from IIiBF, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), with sponsorship from IRTI, Islamic Development Bank. He subsequently joined IIUM as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics in June 2021.
Currently, Dr. Zhang serves as the Head of Program for the MSc in Islamic Finance at INCEIF University’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies. He is also the Co-Editor of the International Journal of Islamic Finance and Sustainable Development. His research interests include Financial Economics, Financial Technologies, Sustainable Economic Development, and the Islamic Capital Market. He has published extensively in top academic journals, such as European Journal of Finance, Institutions & Money, Journal of Islamic Accounting and Business, Journal of Asia-Pacific Business, and Journal of Economic Cooperation and Development.
Dr. Zhang is a sought-after speaker at Islamic Banking and Finance conferences in Qatar, Turkey, and Hong Kong. He also serves as a consultant for major financial institutions and investment firms in China, including Bank of China, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Agricultural Comprehensive Investment Corporation, Ningxia Zhongcai High-Tech Investment Management Co., Ltd., and Mega Capital International Holdings Limited.
