Suri Hanim Mohamed

A Brief Introduction
Suri Hanim binti Mohamed is a Professor of Practice by INCEIF University specialising in Islamic Debt Capital Markets. She is currently the Compliance Officer for AMB Connect Sdn Bhd, an Islamic Equity Crowdfunding Platform and a Distinguished Specialist in Islamic Finance (Islamic Capital Markets) for Tawafuq Consultancy Sdn Bhd. She is a Chartered Member for Chartered Institute for Islamic Financial Professional (CIIF), an Affiliate Member, Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM) and a member for Association of Shariah Advisor in Islamic Finance (ASAS). She is also an Accredited Trainer for Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), Malaysia and a Certified Trainer in National Competency Standard for Ministry of Human Resources, Department of Skills Development, Malaysia
She has more than 10 years of senior leadership experiences in Islamic banking and finance sphere (i.e. Islamic debt capital markets and Islamic banking). She spends her formative years in Islamic debt capital markets, eventually assuming leadership role as a Team Head in Debt Capital Division in OSK Investment Bank Berhad, leading the entire Islamic Desk in promoting Islamic debt capital market products for the Group. During the Tsunami in Acheh, she took a two-years break from the Islamic capital market industry and volunteered herself as a humanitarian worker for a local NGO named GEMA 9. Later she established an NGO in 2005 named WIRDA Sdn Bhd, overseeing various livelihood projects in Tsunami hit areas in Kedah and Banda Acheh in Indonesia. She later joined BNP Paribas Bank (Labuan Branch) as Associate Director/ Head Structuring – Asia Oceania for BNP Paribas Najmah, the Islamic arm, where she led the establishment the 2nd Islamic banking hub for BNP Paribas Group. Post BNP Paribas, she then spends nearly 6 years in MUFG Bank Bhd as a Senior Vice President/Head of ICBU, spearheading the Islamic arm, to be the global Islamic banking hub for the MUFG group. In 2017 she joined Association of Islamic Banking & Financial Institution of Malaysia (AIBIM) as the CEO, leading the full spectrum of operations in positioning the Association as an effective platform between the members and stakeholders in safeguarding and promotion activities in the Islamic banking industry. In January 2019 she assumed the position of Islamic Banking Director for Bank of Maldives Plc, Maldives. In June 2022 she was appointed as Community Development Fellow for Philandure Sdn Bhd, a social business entity with the purpose to create social impact in every project managed by them.
