INCEIF Group Solidifies Global Footprint at 2026 IsDB Annual Meetings in Baku

Kuala Lumpur, 22 June 2026 – INCEIF Group concluded a highly successful and action-packed participation at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Annual Meetings and the 20th IsDB Global Forum, held from 16 to 19 June 2026.

Throughout the four-day event, the delegation actively championed the future of Islamic finance through flagship launches, global policy dialogues, and high-level strategic partnerships.

Key Strategic Milestones:

  • Launch of GIEP: Officially debuted the Global Islamic Economist Programme (GIEP) at the Halal Economy Leadership Forum, aimed at fostering the next generation of global development leaders.
  • Global Policy Advocacy: INCEIF President & CEO Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azmi Omar addressed the main stage at the 20th IsDB Global Forum. Side-by-side with leaders from the UN and IsDB Group, he explored critical development traps, AI-driven solutions, and innovative social finance mechanisms like Awqaf Free Zones.
  • Strategic Knowledge Partnership: Signed a milestone MOU with SESRIC to strengthen capacity building, human capital enhancement, and collaborative research via South-South and Triangular Cooperation mechanisms to support the achievement of the 2030 SDGs.

The delegation’s presence was significantly elevated by the attendance of H.E. Adnan Zaylani Mohamad Zahid, Deputy Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia and Acting IsDB Governor for Malaysia, who joined key institutional discussions.

On the exhibition floor, INCEIF’s Booth No. 30 received an overwhelming response from international visitors. Driving this ground engagement were the Director of the Centre of Excellence in Islamic Social Finance at INCEIF University, Prof. Dr. Amir Shaharuddin (ISRA Institute), and Dr. Mohamed Eskandar Shah Mohd Rasid, CEO of ISRA Associates, who played a vital role in assisting delegates, fostering regional research integration, and managing strategic enquiries. This included a high-profile networking session with the Presidential Delivery Unit of Zanzibar.

Concluding the mission on 19 June, the leadership team held an official meeting with Dr. Sami Al-Suwailem, Acting Director General of the Islamic Development Bank Institute (ISDBI), Saudi Arabia, to formalise future synergies in research and institutional development.

The successful outcome of these high-level engagements further solidifies INCEIF University’s position as the definitive global knowledge hub for Islamic finance.
