Kuala Lumpur, 24 February 2025 – In conjunction with Malaysia’s appointment as the 46th ASEAN Chair, Nadi Sihat, in collaboration with UiTM Negeri Sembilan and the state government of Negeri Sembilan, organised the Gunung Datuk ASEAN Summit Attack 2025 as a symbolic representation of ASEAN unity.
Renowned for its challenging hiking trails, Gunung Datuk in Negeri Sembilan was chosen as the venue for this initiative. A total of 200 university students from ASEAN countries studying in Malaysia took part in this symbolic climb to the top, representing regional solidarity. Joining them were Huzhaifah bin Mohd Kamal from Singapore and Razali Ade Syahputra Hasibuan from Indonesia, both INCEIF students in the Master of Science in Islamic Finance programme.
Through this joint hiking activity, participants not only experienced the beauty of nature but also gained awareness of environmental conservation through the “Responsible Hikers” narrative. Responsible Hikers follow the Leave No Trace principles, ensuring that nature remains untouched for future adventurers.
Further promoting the spirit of well-being and unity, on the same day, a group of 30 INCEIF students embarked on a sunrise hike to Broga Hill, a popular trail known for its breathtaking views and refreshing atmosphere. Beyond just a physical challenge, the hike served as an opportunity for students to step away from their daily routines, fostering mental clarity and resilience.
The Gunung Datuk ASEAN Summit Attack 2025 underscored Malaysia’s leadership as ASEAN Chair, while both this event and the Steps to Unity: Bukit Broga Day Hike championed the values of unity, wellness, and sustainability. These initiatives highlight how adventure and nature can serve as powerful avenues for fostering regional cooperation, personal growth, and environmental responsibility.
