Datuk Johan Idris Strengthens INCEIF’s Line-up of Professors of Practice

Kuala Lumpur, 17 July 2025 – INCEIF University is pleased to announce the appointment of Datuk Johan Idris as the Professor of Practice (PoP) with immediate effect.

Datuk Johan serves as Chairman of both KPMG Malaysia and Maxis Berhad. He has been an INCEIF Senate Member since 2014, and a Board of Trustee member since 2018.

A past President of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, he has contributed to national financial standards and was also an Executive Member of the Financial Stability Executive Committee of Bank Negara Malaysia. Internationally experienced across the US, UK, and Asia Pacific, he led complex audit and consulting engagements, including with a Fortune 500 company.

Under his leadership, KPMG Malaysia received numerous awards in risk, sustainability, and employer excellence. An advocate for education, inclusion, and work-life balance, he launched initiatives like KPMG’s Golden Week and the RM5 million KPMG Education Trust Fund. He is a Fellow of CIMA and Council Member of MICPA.

With Datuk Johan, INCEIF currently boasts of six PoPs who are uniquely qualified professional practitioners, distinguished and eminent professionals, either practicing or retired. Armed with their practical professional experiences, the PoP engage with students and faculty members, contributing to the research and scholarly mission of INCEIF. They promote the integration of academic scholarship with practical experience.

The other PoPs include Chancellor and former Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus, and former Bursa Malaysia Bhd Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar.

INCEIF faculty members, who are globally respected among the Islamic finance and sustainability sphere, have a combined wealth of experience and diversity with areas of expertise in – among others – Shariah, sustainability and fintech. The faculty, coupled with continuous support from the industry and policy makers, provides INCEIF students with strong mentoring relationships and opportunities for professional development.
