Bangkok, 14 July 2025 – INCEIF University is honoured to be invited by Bangkok University to share its insights at its Seminar & Workshop on Islamic Finance.
The timely initiative reflects the growing interest in ethical and Shariah-compliant finance in Thailand. Thailand has a full-fledged Islamic bank, Islamic Bank of Thailand which was set up by the Thai government in 2003. As the country explores opportunities to diversify its financial services landscape, Islamic finance is increasingly being recognised as a viable and sustainable alternative, especially in promoting financial inclusion and development aligned with universal ethical values.
The two sessions were conducted by Assoc Prof Dr Eskandar Shah Mohd Rasid, CEO of INCEIF’s consulting subsidiary ISRA Consulting. The first session highlighted the role of Islamic finance in fostering ethical and resilient financial systems. This was followed by an interactive workshop where students actively explored how Islamic finance principles could be applied to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas such as social justice, responsible investment, and inclusive economic growth.
More than 80 students from Bangkok University participated enthusiastically, reflecting a strong and rising curiosity among the younger generation toward alternative financial models that are not only compliant with Shariah principles but also globally relevant.
INCEIF’s presence was further supported by its Programme Counsellor, who was on hand to engage with students interested in pursuing further studies in Islamic finance and gaining international academic exposure.
INCEIF extends its sincere appreciation to the faculty members and organisers from Bangkok University, including Dr Prachaya Suwanhirunkul (PhD, Class of 22); Dr Suwijak Suwanhirunkul (PhD, Class of 23); Asst Prof Dr Karnjana Songwathana; and Dr Sumanee Suppakornkosai. And the faculty members from the School of Economics & Investment and School of Business Administration who helped make this initiative a success.
This meaningful academic engagement marks a deepening collaboration between INCEIF and Bangkok University, paving the way for more impactful knowledge exchange, regional cooperation, and student empowerment in the evolving landscape of Islamic finance.
Ends.
