Kuala Lumpur, 14 September 2026 — INCEIF University and the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia (ASAS) today officially renewed their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
First formalised in 2021, the ceremony showed strong collaboration and shared enthusiasm for the future. The partnership brings together two main pillars of Malaysia’s Islamic financial sector: INCEIF University, the world’s leading postgraduate university dedicated to Islamic finance, and ASAS, the national professional body for Shariah advisors.
The MoU was signed by Prof Emeritus Dato Dr Mohd Azmi Omar, President & CEO of INCEIF University, and Datuk Prof Dr Mohamad Akram Laldin, President of ASAS. It was witnessed by Prof Dr Mansor Hj Ibrahim, Deputy President Academic & Dean of INCEIF University, and Hj Makhtar Abdullah, CEO of ASAS.
Highlighting the close relationship between both sides, Prof Emeritus Dato Dr Mohd Azmi Omar said:
“INCEIF University and ASAS have always worked closely together in shaping talent and leadership for the Islamic finance sector. Our relationship is deeply connected, and this renewal is a natural step forward. Moving forward, we want to bring more joint projects together, from research to professional training, so Malaysia can continue to lead the global Islamic finance fraternity.”
Sharing the same view, Datuk Prof Dr Mohamad Akram Laldin added:
“The close connection between ASAS and INCEIF has always brought good results for our practitioners and scholars. As the financial industry grows, we need even stronger teamwork between academic research and practical Shariah advice. Through more joint projects, we hope to raise professional standards and strengthen Malaysia’s role in global Islamic finance.”
The renewed agreement will focus on joint research, talent development, and training programmes for the global Islamic finance industry.
