Islamic Finance Future Leaders Bootcamp 2025 Officially Launched by Deputy Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 June 2025 – Energy is high and the vision is clear as the Second Islamic Finance Future Leaders Bootcamp 2025 officially kicks off on campus today.

The Bootcamp was officially launched by YB Senator Dr Zulkifli Hasan, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs).

Nearly 50 high performing students from 11 universities across Malaysia were selected to attend the two days of high-impact learning, industry insights, and leadership-building experiences. From keynote sessions to real-world case studies, the Bootcamp bridges academic theory with practical Islamic finance application—guided by esteemed faculty, industry experts, and INCEIF’s very own Professors of Practice.

In his keynote address, Dr Zulkifli emphasised the need for future leaders in Islamic finance to embrace not only technical and regulatory expertise, but also ethical leadership rooted in maqasid al-shariah and values-based decision-making. He highlighted the alignment of the Bootcamp’s objective with the recently announced Pelan Transformasi Al-Falah, which aims to drive the Islamic economy forward through talent development, institutional synergy, and strategic reform.

“This Bootcamp supports the national agenda to nurture high-integrity, visionary professionals who can strengthen Malaysia’s position as a global Islamic finance hub,” he said before officiating the launch by signing a commemorative plaque.

INCEIF President & CEO, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr Azmi Omar, welcomed participants and noted that Malaysia’s leadership in Islamic finance was not only marked by institutional maturity but also by the country’s ongoing investment in talent and research through entities such as INCEIF University and ISRA Institute.

The Bootcamp features keynote and expert sessions on a wide range of topics, including:

  • Leadership in Islamic Finance by Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, The Saleh Kamel Award Recipient 2025;
  • The Current Outlook of the Islamic Finance Industry by Mr Abdul Rahman Mohd Yusoff, Teaching Fellow, INCEIF;
  • Ethical Leadership and the Prophetic Model (Mr Adli Mohd Saad, Al Khaadem)

Other speakers include Alumnus Dr Syed Adam Alhabshi, Partner at Raja, Darryl & Loh; and Bank Negara Malaysia Deputy Governor Mr Adnan Zaylani.

The Bootcamp also incorporates soft skills development in communication, networking, and personal branding to complement technical competence.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with leading practitioners, academics and policymakers across two full days of sessions, culminating in a closing ceremony and networking dinner.
