As part of INCEIF University’s ongoing commitment to meaningful community outreach, the University Social Responsibility (USR) Unit launched a Financial Literacy Programme aimed at secondary school students. In collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Islamic Social Finance (CoEISF) of ISRA Institute, and supported by Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad, the initiative seeks to equip youth—particularly those from underserved backgrounds—with essential financial knowledge and tools for real-life decision-making.
The first session was held at SMK Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (Integrasi), Kajang in Selangor, engaging nearly 100 Form 4 students from the Accounting and Economics stream. The half-day event featured expert speakers from INCEIF and involved INCEIF students as mentors. Topics such as budgeting, saving, investment, and fraud awareness were delivered in an accessible, interactive format.
Building on that momentum, the second session took place at SMK Sungai Pusu, Gombak in Kuala Lumpur, with a focus on students from the B40 and indigenous communities. The programme was enriched with student-led discussions and creative drawing activities to make financial concepts more relatable. Participants also shared real-life experiences, including personal encounters with scams, underscoring the importance of early fraud awareness and prevention.
Both sessions were coordinated by Nurul Ain Rosman from the USR Unit and Shamimi Mohd Zulkarnaini from the CoEISF, with strong support from INCEIF staff, students, and industry partners. These initiatives not only translate INCEIF’s academic expertise into real-world impact but also reflect a shared vision of building financially empowered communities through education. With two more sessions planned in the coming months, the programme continues to gain momentum—one school at a time.
